About Dr Luke James

Luke is currently Medical Director Bupa Global and UK Insurance. He qualified in 1998 from UCL and brings 20 years of clinical and management experience within the NHS, predominantly as a Partner in a large GP practice delivering an innovative approach to both NHS and private healthcare. He has a strong background in clinical quality and governance having spent several years as an NHS CCG board member responsible for planned secondary care and primary care quality. In addition he has extensive experience of clinical IT system implementation and is a qualified medical educator and appraiser. Luke joined Bupa three years ago and in his previous role as Medical Director for Bupa Health Clinics has been focused on ensuring delivery of a safe, compliant and commercially viable service for our customers. Luke is passionate about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and high quality primary care in preventing rather than simply treating illness. He is a keen sportsman and continues to play tennis and football to an ever decreasing standard!
